This international steam trilogy marks the culmination of Cadeco’s decades-long commitment to railway photographic publishing.
Wide Open Co. developed a flexible book design system that balances consistency with variation—clean white layouts sit alongside moody black and grey pages, echoing the shifting light of the images themselves.
Together, the three volumes form a unified series: reflective, immersive, and designed to be returned to, again and again.
Each book brings together the work of multiple photographers, documenting steam operations across the globe as they slipped from daylight into memory.
Moving beyond the typical full-frame approach of railway publishing, the layouts layer photography, captions and white space to create depth, pacing and atmosphere.
